Salt Lake police want to question two men who have been using the same name and Social Security number.
They believe the men may have been involved in the Monday night shooting of a Sandy man.Frank Connelly, 41, responded to a classified advertisement seeking to fill a vice president position with a Fortune 500 Company. The position included a six-figure income, stock options and many other benefits.
Connelly - dressed in a suit - went to the Little America Hotel for an interview Monday night. Ironically, police say, Connelly took a gun with him.
Following the interview with someone named Terry L. Stevens, Stevens told Connelly he needed to catch a plane and asked for a ride to the airport, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Marty Vuyk. Connelly agreed and said Stevens first asked him to stop by a business office at 580 W. 1300 South.
Once there, Connelly was shot four times.
"What we are not clear on is what elements . . . brought on the shooting," Vuyk said. "Were there demands made by them? Were there requests made by them that precipitated the shooting."
Police have been unable to get many answers from Connelly, who was listed in fair condition Thursday at LDS Hospital.
What detectives do know is that two men have been using the name of Terry L. Stevens and the same Social Security number. Before Monday's shooting, both men had been staying at the Stratford Hotel. Each purchased suits and rented a suite at the Little America Hotel to conduct interviews, Vuyk said.
After police were notified of the shooting Monday, they went to the Little America suite to contact Stevens. However, he was checking out of the hotel at the same time officers were checking the room.
Anyone who may have seen either man or anyone who may have interviewed with them is encouraged to call the Salt Lake Police Department at 799-3000.
