SHARE SONGWRITING CONTEST SEEKS UPLIFTING, UNIFYING TUNES TO `HELP HEAL L.A.’

The Musicians Institute in Hollywood is co-sponsoring a songwriting contest titled "Help Heal L.A. . . . Through Music" which hopes to use music as a means of promoting peace.

Songwriters are asked to submit material that is "uplifting and inspires a sense of unification amongst people." Tunes will be judged by a panel of professionals from leading music organizations such as the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Songwriter's Guild of America, Los Angeles Songwriter's Showcase, BMI and ASCAP, as well as record company executives, publishers and celebrity tunesmiths. Winning songs may result in record deals.The contest is open to all songwriters. First-prize winner will receive $1,000 cash, a $7,500 Musicians Institute scholarship and will be fully provided with musical equipment.

Deadline for submissions is April 26, 1993, with the winner being formally introduced during a celebrity benefit concert. For information, call (213) 462-1384.
