Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas may have violated a code of ethics for judges when he addressed a private, $100-a-plate dinner.
Federal judges may not take part in fund raising, and the conservative think tank that sponsored the dinner said it was not a fund-raiser. But legal scholars quoted in Friday's Atlanta Journal-Constitution said that it was designed to raise money.Guests at the Tuesday dinner were asked to pay $100 a plate, or $250 for dinner and a reception with Thomas. All but $30 was tax deductable, they were told.
