Twenty local nurseries have donated more than 2,000 plants for grounds and gardens of local senior citizens. Regardless of the weather, volunteers will gather Saturday, May 8, at the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building at the University of Utah campus at 8 a.m., then go to homes throughout the valley to plant the donated trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetable plants.

The volunteers will also clear the debris along the sides of fences, trim bushes and other exterior home and lawn maintenance tasks. Besides making the houses look better, such care makes the residents less likely candidates for crime. The event is organized by the Lowell Bennion Community Services Council and the Community Services Council.
