A 38-year-old Magna man accused of prostituting his 10-year-old daughter has been bound over for trial on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

William Lawrence Carr testified at a preliminary hearing Thursday that he usually paid to have sex with the defendant's 21-year-old wife, but on two occasions the father offered his daughter in his wife's place.Carr, 67, took the girl to his Salt Lake City trailer home, where she performed oral sex on him, he said.

"I gave (the defendant) $20, and $10 for (the girl) to buy herself something - but she always gave that to (the defendant)," said Carr.

Following the hearing, 3rd Circuit Judge Philip K. Palmer ordered the father bound over for trial. Arraignment is May 14 before 3rd District Judge Frank G. Noel.

Also Thursday, prosecutors filed five more counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child against the man involving alleged prostitution of the daughter five times to another man.

Similar charges against the defendant were dismissed at a February preliminary hearing.

At that hearing, the girl said her stepmother - not her father - set up the sexual encounters.

Prosecutors countered by refiling the charges and arranging for Carr to testify.

Carr is himself charged with three counts of first-degree felony sodomy on a child. In return for his testimony, Carr said he hopes for leniency.

"I'm praying I don't have to go to jail," he said. "I'm hoping to get some kind of counseling."

Another alleged customer, Lonnie Richard Davis, 62, is charged with two counts of child sodomy.

The defendant's wife and the girl's biological mother also are charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child for allegedly prostituting the girl.

Investigators say the young girl has been forced since the age of 7 years to perform sex acts with her father's friends. State social workers took the girl from her home in December.
