As the summer doldrums approach, adults and children both may find some respite in local libraries and library-sponsored events.

Events scheduled this summer include:- Storytelling festival, June 23-27, at the Children's Art Yard of the Utah Arts Festival, Triad Center.

Dedicated to the memory of city librarian Marian Carter, the storytelling festival will feature "From the Storybag," presented by Helen Taylor, 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23; "Utah Mining Tales," Dave Bullock, 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24; "Native American Legends," Jay Brummett, 7 p.m. Friday, June 25; "Folk Tales," June Miller, 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26; "World Culture Through Folklore," Bookspeak Theatre Company, 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27; "Cousin John's Story and Songs," John Newman, 3 p.m. Sunday, June 27.

- Concerts by the creek, at the Foothill Library, 1135 S. 2100 East, at 7 p.m. Thursdays, June 24, July 8, Aug. 5, Aug. 19 and Sept. 2.

The six free concerts feature Mississippi Blues, Them Damn Hillbillies, Southwind, New Shtetl Ramblers, Full House and Living Room Ensemble.
