Annie Gertrude Jensen Iverson, 102, died Tuesday, June 15, 1993 at Godfrey's Foothill Retreat, Brigham City, where she had resided for the past eight years.
She was born February 28, 1891 in Bennington, Idaho, a daughter of Mads Peter and Annie Christena Hansen Jensen. In 1906 her family moved to Bear River City, where she attended school and performed musically in duets. It took them two days to travel through Logan Canyon with their horses and wagon to visit their relatives.She was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in all of the auxiliaries. Her early assignments were in the Evans Branch where she served as Theology Class Leader. She served a mission in the Western States Mission from 1917 to 1919.
Gertrude married Joseph Wilford Iverson,
August 4, 1920 in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised their family on a farm 4 miles south of Tremonton, living and developing the land for 51 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Brigham City in the fall of 1969. Mr. Iverson died November 22, 1971.
Mrs. Iverson was very active in the Utah Farm Bureau, serving in many positions at the county level, including president. During the early 1930's she helped initiate the hot soup program for the PTA in the Elwood School.
Surviving are four sons and their spouses, Dwayne J. and Shirley Iverson, Salt Lake City; Verl J. and Ruth Iverson, Brigham City; Lee G. and Doreen Iverson, Ronald D. and Jewell
Iverson, all of Royal City, Wash.; son-in-law, Andrew H. Eldredge, Brigham City; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; brother, Otto Jensen, Brigham City; sister, Carrie J. Christensen, Bear River City; sister-in-law, Gertrude R. Jensen, Bear River City. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ora Fay Eldredge.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 12 noon, at the Tremonton 3rd/8th Ward Chapel, 9590 North 6800 West, with Bishop
Raymond N. Hansen, officiating. Friends may call Saturday, 10:15-11:45 a.m. at the chapel. Burial in the Bear River City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, Tremonton.
