Don't let it be said that Ginger Rogers is without honor in her own land.
The Oregon Senate on Thursday passed a resolution recognizing Rogers, who danced to fame upon Fred Astaire's arm in such films as "Top Hat.""I'm so grateful for this lovely honor you have given me today," said the 81-year-old actress, who moved to Oregon in 1940. "Thank you for your love, affection and friendship. It means a lot to me."
Rogers, who carried a bouquet of yellow roses as she addressed the Senate from her wheelchair, drew a round of applause from the Republican senators when she said, "Don't forget I am a Republican, kids."
