SHARE `CELEBRATION OF HOPE’ IS PLANNED FOR JULY 4

"Celebration of Hope," is the theme for an interfaith patriotic service to be held on Sunday, July 4, at 7 p.m. at West Jordan High School, 8136 S. 2700 West. The event will feature an interfaith choir and several speakers, including the Rev. Clifton Wilkes, former pastor of the New Pilgrim Baptist Church; Martin Walsh of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and Jack Wiseman of Sonrise Baptist Church.

The Rev. Wilkes is an adviser in the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs at the University of Utah and has chaired a variety of minority committees, including the Governor's Black Advisory Council.Walsh is Scoutmaster for the Great Salt Lake Council's Golden Moccasin training and works in financial services. Wiseman is an adolescent addiction counselor and served as a U.S. Army paratrooper and machine gunner in Vietnam. The service is the fourth annual event to be organized by the Southwest Valley Interfaith Committee, and is associated with Independence Day festivities in conjunction with West Jordan's Western Stampede. Chairperson for the event is LonaVon Lamb of the West Jordan LDS East Stake.
