Less than a week after Los Angeles decided to ban smoking in restaurants, the Airport Commission has voted to ban smoking in most areas at Los Angeles International Airport.

The five-member commission voted unanimously Monday for the new policy, which takes effect immediately. Airport officials described it as one of the most restrictive smoking policies among U.S. airports.The new rule bans smoking in 75 percent of bar areas and in all other areas.
