Students, teachers and administrators from Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School mark the beginning of construction for a $1.3 million middle school on Wednesday by shoveling the first few spades of earth at the site, adjacent to the existing school at 843 S. Lincoln. Students also buried a time capsule filled with 1993 memorabilia. The middle school will be built as a wing to the existing campus, which has housed grades seven through 12 since 1985. The new facility will house grades six through eight. Construction is set to begin Monday and is expected to be completed in December 1994. Enrollment for middle school grades at Rowland Hall has been increasing yearly since 1984, with 190 students at present.
