Don Vernon Deming, retired commercial pilot, passed away on May 11, 1993 at his home in McAllen, Texas after a long illness.

Born November 7, 1928 in Coalville, Utah to Vernon and Lydia Florence Deming. He married Sheila Jean Havenor in 1953; later divorced.Don lived with his parents in Summit County, Utah until 1942 when the family moved to Ogden. He graduated from Ogden High School, and at the early age of 17, earned his pilot's license. From that time forward flying was his vocation and avocation as well. For a number of years he worked for Utah State Fish and Game Division, then his love of flying and his strong sense of adventure took him to many others parts of the world. In Malaysia, he was private pilot for the royal family. At the end of his service there, he was given a very laudatory citation by the king of that country. He resided in Texas for the past several years.

Survived by daughter, Tara Deming Gates, Denver, Colo.; son, Michael V. Deming (Debra), Roseburg, Oregon; sister, Mrs. McRay (Florence D.) Magleby; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters, Josephine Deming Galbraith and Verna Dean Deming Freeman.
