Thiokol Corp. announced Tuesday the layoff of 350 employees, bringing the total labor force reduction this year to 420 workers.
The company said this will be the last layoff because of the company's shrinking business in defense and the space shuttle program."Thiokol believes that any further adjustments can be accomplished through attrition, assuming no further changes in the Utah business base," a written announcement said.
The reductions will take effect July 13 and bring Thiokol's work force to 4,700 employees.
