Ryder System Inc. has agreed to extend an educational partnership with Utah for another three years. The company, based in Miami, Fla., has donated $25,000 annually to the Utah Partnership for Educational and Economic Development for the past three years.
M. Anthony Burns, Ryder chairman, president and chief executive officer, was recently keynote speaker for the Eighth Governor's Economic Development Conference in Provo."On a national basis, the business community is becoming increasingly aware of the need to provide direct support and assistance to the improvement of the quality of education, and Ryder wants to help Gov. Mike Leavitt in Utah," he said.
Burns said he has a personal interest in Utah, as he and two of his children graduated from BYU and another daughter plans to attend Dixie College on a baseball scholarship before transferring to BYU.
