SHARE DEATH: CHARLES ""PAPOU"" HATSIS

Charles Hatsis, age 78, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully July 8, 1993 in a local hospital.

Charles was born May 23, 1915 in Kenilworth, Utah to George and Maria Koutroubakis Hatsis, one of five sons. He married Julie Pearl Varanakis on October 17, 1937 in the price Greek Orthodox Church. He was a retired coal miner, and had been engaged in the coal mining industry for 32 years, both as a miner and a supervisor. After leaving the coal mines in Carbon Co., he moved to Salt Lake City with his family and worked as a salesman with heavy duty mining machinery with EIMCO and Rocky Mtn. Machinery. Charles was a 32nd degree Mason.Charles loved and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with his family and dear friends. He cherished the association of his family and friends and was very dedicated to all of them. His yard and garden were a real source of pride to him. His natural charm and quick wit along with his sense of humor was loved by all.

Charles is survived by his wife, Julie and two sons, Dr. George C. Hatsis (Glenna) and Nick C. Hatsis (Sandra); grandchildren, Julie Ann, Charles, Sindi, G. Zachary Hatsis, and Julie Johnson; brothers, Duke Hatsis and Tom Hatsis, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 1993, 12 noon, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral at 279 West 300 South. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Interment at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
