Queen Elizabeth II tries her hand at target-practice on the British army's firing range Friday. She showed she just may have the makings of a crack shot. The 66-year-old sovereign fired an army rifle for the first time during a tour of a practice range at Bisley, southern England, and came close to scoring a bull's-eye with the force's new SA-80 rifle, military officials said. Her single shot hit the edge of the center of the 300-meter target. The queen joined the women's army, the Auxiliary Territorial Service, during World War II and worked as a mechanic on truck engines. Her husband, Philip, and heir, Charles, are both keen huntsmen.
