I don't know where Mr. Lee (Forum, July 5) gets his scriptures, but the King James version, which I believe is widely accepted, states in no uncertain terms what is thought concerning homosexuality. In Leviticus 18:22, we read: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is abomination." Abomination is generally used to denote any heathen or immoral practice.

In addition, Mr. Lee quotes a scripture that those who are persecuted for righteousness sake are blessed. Righteousness is the quality and type of living that results from obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. Nothing about homosexuality is right. It is a perversion.I do not believe that homosexuals should be abused or mistreated in any way. They are God's children. I do not understand, however, why they persist in wanting to let everyone know what they do in the privacy of their bedrooms. I do not feel it necessary to tell everyone my sexual preferences, why do they? Paraphrasing Shakespeare, "I think they protest too much."

It's as though they must be the center of attention, similar to a bad child trying to get attention with bad behavior. Instead of trying to right their lives, they try to force others to accept their lifestyle, which I might add, will never happen.

If it is wrong for a man and woman to engage in sexual acts without benefit of marriage, as the scriptures state, then it is worse to be sexually active with someone of your own sex. Just because people try to justify wrongdoing and assure themselves that they are doing the right thing does not make the thing they do right.
