The "CBS Evening News" has dropped to last place in the ratings six weeks after Connie Chung joined Dan Rather, shown in a May 18 photo. The ratings are down 2 percent from the same period last year, while NBC's are up 1 percent and ABC's are up 7 percent. "I'd rather be in the water and finish third, than to be high and dry playing some other role," said Rather, covering the Midwest floods. Executive producer Erik Sorenson said, "It takes a while to iron out the kinks."
