Polling places for a Tuesday referendum that will decide whether Millard County will withdraw from the Central Utah Project have been announced by county clerk Marlene Whicker.

Although the referendum is not legally binding, county commissioners have pledged to abide by wishes of Millard County residents on the issue. The referendum was prompted by a request from a consortium of five irrigation companies in west Millard County to withdraw from the CUP and public hearings at which almost all in attendance supported the withdrawal.

Voters will cast ballots "for" or "against" the proposition, which would petition the Central Utah Water Conservancy District to exclude all lands in Millard County from the water district and the project.

In most cases, each small community includes one voting district. Polling places will be at town halls in Kanosh, Oak City, Leamington, Scipio, Holden, Hinckley and Lynndyl. Voting for Deseret and Oasis will be in the Deseret Town Building.

Other polling places will include Fillmore Districts 1 and 2, Fillmore City multipurpose room, 75 W. Center Street; Meadow, fire department building; Abraham, 7295 W 3000 North; Flowell, Flowell Electric Building; Garrison, school building; Delta Districts 17 and 18, Delta City Building, 76 N. 200 West; and Sutherland, Sutherland LDS Ward chapel.
