A carnival worker is in stable condition at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful after his throat was slashed early Wednesday morning by a fellow employee, according to Bountiful police.

Police said an argument around 2 a.m. between two employees of the carnival setting up at the Five Points Mall, 1500 S. Main, grew heated and one of them pulled a knife, slashing the other man in the throat.Ronald McFadden, 42, is listed in stable condition with a 6-inch slash wound in his throat, according to police.

Police arrested the co-worker, identified as Steven Kaliz, 37, who is being held in the Davis County Jail on a charge of attempted criminal homicide. Both men are listed as transients working with the carnival, and police are trying to determine if the identification they obtained from Kaliz is correct.
