Grand County authorities are trying to find the owner of a blood-spattered, bullet-marred pickup truck found eight miles north of Moab.

Sheriff Jim Nyland said the 1978 Ford truck was found by tourists Wednesday afternoon near Gemini Bridges Bike Trail. It was registered to a Layton man whom Nyland declined to identify.The truck had run 50 feet off the road and crashed into a rock, sustaining heavy damage. Five bullet holes were found in the door and blood in the truck's cab, the sheriff said.

Deputies conducted a grid search of the area and found nothing. The investigation is continuing.
