SHARE BEARS GALORE AT DOLL MUSEUM THROUGH AUGUST

Special exhibits featuring beloved bears from literature and real-life are on display through the end of August at the McCurdy Doll Museum, 246 N. 100 East.

Bears featured in the exhibits include Smokey Bear, Paddington, Corduroy, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Winnie the Pooh (along with Piglet and Christopher Robin), Roosevelt Bears, Care Bears and military bears.Teddy bears are called "comfort creatures" because they offer so much unconditional love. Their enduring and endearing charms make them beloved companions to old and young alike. Many bears and their owners have become famous in literature and real life, such as Aloysius from "Brideshead Revisited."

On Saturday, July 31, the museum will sponsor a story-telling and tea party where teddy bears and their owners will have a Teddy Bear Picnic. Jo Clement, a favorite story-teller with museum visitors, will narrate wonderful bear stories, followed by a picnic in the woods.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears finger puppets will be given free to those attending.

Reservations can be made by calling the museum Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., 377-9935. Admission charge is $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for children under 12.
