A Farmington woman was in serious but stable condition Sunday after she was struck by a motorboat at Pineview Reservoir.

Sylvia Gomez, 45, suffered deep lacerations to the right hip and forearms in the Saturday accident. The wounds apparently were caused by the boat's propeller.Gomez was being towed on a knee-board behind another boat in the Middle Fork of the reservoir's inlet. The second boat, pulling a water skier, was traveling in the same direction, said Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Wells.

The woman lost her balance and went into the water just as the skier also went down, said Wells.

Wells said the operator of the other craft, Allan O'Driscoll, 20, of Salt Lake, turned to retrieve the downed skier and struck Gomez.

The lieutenant said O'Driscoll was cited for operating with an obstructed view and going too fast.
