A Salt Lake man was stabbed in the chest while drinking July 16, according to a Salt Lake County sheriff's report. The man was treated at St. Mark's Hospital for a superficial stab wound, which apparently was inflicted by a drinking companion.

The man said he had drunk two bottles of vodka with a group of people when the incident occurred, after which he approached two Salt Lake County deputy sheriffs at a 7-Eleven on 3300 South and 300 West, saying he had been stabbed. The police officers applied pressure on the wound until the arrival of Salt Lake County firefighters, who transported the man to St. Mark's.The exact location of the incident and the identity of the man's assailant are unknown.
