This year's "City of Joseph" pageant, a musical production about Mormons in Nauvoo, has been canceled because of flooding in the Midwest.

Although Nauvoo has not been tremendously affected by the flood, it is hard to get to the town on the Mississippi River, according to the pageant's producer and composer, Maughan McMurdy. Some roads have been flooded, and approaches to many bridges are under water, compounding transportation woes. McMurdy said the disaster has cut down the number of visitors at tourist stops along the Mississippi River, including Nauvoo. (See Church News July 24 for more information.)
