INACTION COULD COST A CHILD’S LIFE

I recited a poem at a little girl's funeral. I titled it "Keeanna - Perfect Little One."

As I looked at this beautiful child in her coffin, I visualized the terrible trauma she had suffered, and I thought it would behoove us all to rehearse in our minds what we should do if we hear a child crying excessively, see one grabbed and forced into a car, etc. Making the right decision may save a life. Getting involved and making a mistake is better than doing nothing.Last week at a store, I saw four children who had been left in a tightly closed car on a hot day. I fussed at a clerk until it was investigated. It turned out the air conditioner was on. Was I embarrassed? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes, again and again. Our jewels are to be cherished and protected, not abused, as was this Perfect Little One.
