Utah Highway Patrol officials have identified the driver of a semitrailer truck who was killed Friday night when his rig exploded after it went off an overpass south of Santaquin.

Killed: Harry Poulter, 24, Salt Lake City.Poulter was driving southbound on I-15 at about 6:20 p.m. Friday when witnesses said he began swerving across both lanes of traffic, left the road and took out about 40 feet of guardrail before plunging off the south Santaquin exit overpass. The truck exploded into flames when it hit the embankment on the other side of the overpass. Investigators believe Poulter was killed on impact.

The truck burned for more than an hour while firefighters kept bystanders more than two miles away. Police closed both lanes of I-15 for about two hours because they were unsure if the truck was carrying toxic cargo. When flames subsided, officials determined the truck was hauling electrical equipment, furniture and denim material.

Investigators found Poulter's remains after about a two-hour search. They said no passengers were in the truck.
