Duchesne sheep rancher Alton Moon has been elected president of the board of trustees for Deseret Generation and Transmission.

Moon was named president at the cooperative's annual meeting at the Bonanza Power Plant southeast of Vernal.He previously served as president of the Roosevelt-based Moon Lake Electric Association's Board of Directors.

Moon also served on the Utah Rural Electric Association board of directors and is a former Duchesne County commissioner.

Deseret Generation and Transmission is the wholesale power supplier for six rural electric distribution cooperatives serving rural electric consumers in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona and Nevada. The co-op is headquartered in Sandy.
