An unusual bit of Hollywood memorabilia went on the auction block last weekend but didn't fetch anywhere near the anticipated price.

The toupee Humphrey Bogart sported in "The African Queen," "The Barefoot Contessa" and "Sabrina" was sold for $500 Saturday in Natchez, Miss.Bogey's rug had a presale estimate of $2,000, but the only bidder who expressed interest was a doctor from Jackson, Miss.

The toupee was the main attraction in the auction, sponsored by Verita Thompson. Thompson, who said in her book "Bogey & Me" that she had a 15-year affair with the star, is parting with the hairpiece and other souvenirs because she's moving to a new home.
