President Clinton's rarely used $30,000 jogging path is cracking up in some places due to Washington's relentless hot and humid weather.

White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers said that the Boston contractor who built the track a couple of months ago will return to patch it free of charge.Clinton, who jogs nearly every morning, prefers to run past the Washington Monument and around the Lincoln Memorial, or along the Potomac River. He does not like to run in circles around the south lawn where the jogging track, made of cut up rubber tires, is located.

But the president said recently that he uses the track at night only, on those rare occasions when running on the streets would be too much of a security burden.
