Nancy Pace has announced her candidacy for re-election to the Salt Lake City Council.

Pace, first elected in 1989, is seeking her second four-year term. She represents District 3, which includes the city's Avenues section. She is vice president of tourism and sales for the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors' Bureau, owner of the Brigham Street Inn and a member of the board of trustees of the University of Utah. She said she believes in the participation of citizens in government, noting she scheduled many meetings in neighborhoods during her first term to discuss traffic, lighting and development issues.

"In less than four years on the council, I believe I have been instrumental in bringing to fruition many programs that improve our quality of life," Pace said in a written statement. "It is my desire that I can continue to serve the community even better during the next four years."
