SHARE Y. COLLEGE APPOINTS ASSOCIATE DEAN

Bruce L. Christensen, who was recently named dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communications at Brigham Young University, has announced the appointment of an associate dean.

David M. Randall, a professor of music and a member of the BYU faculty since 1970, will assume his new position along with Christensen in August.An assistant chairman for the department of music since 1990, Randall received his doctorate in clarinet performance and pedagogy from the University of Iowa in 1970, after completing a master's degree in performance at the University of Indiana and a bachelor's degree in music education from BYU.

An international performer and educator, he has been the assistant director of a BYU Study Abroad pro-gram in London and a visiting pro-fessor at the Shanghai and Beijing Conservatories of Music.

For the past four years he has served as a member of the col-lege's Rank and Continuing Status Committee and has received numerous research, teaching and performance grants and awards from the university.
