The national two-month average seasonally adjusted total unemployment rate has dropped below 7 percent, said Terry O. Burns, unemployment insurance director for Utah Job Service.

Because of this change, those filing EUC claims July 11 or later will now be eligible for 60 percent of their regular claim for up to 10 weeks.Individuals currently filing for EUC will not be affected by this change, and if they were entitled to a higher maximum number of weeks they will continue at that level.

The change also has no effect on the regular state unemployment insurance program, in which claimants receive up to 26 weeks of benefits.
