Howard G. Haas, former president and chief executive officer of Sealy Inc., has been named chairman of the board of directors of Broadcast International Inc., 7050 S. Union Park Center, a company delivering business communication and financial services to retailers nationwide.
He replaces Frank Stanton, president emeritus of CBS Inc., who was the chairman for six years.The company also announced that Jake Garn, former Republican senator from Utah and vice president of Huntsman Chemical Corp., and Charles W. Weaver, former chairman and chief executive officer of the Clorox Co., have been appointed to the board.
While president of Sealy, Haas took the company to number one in the bedding industry and today is chairman of his own management consulting firm and teaches leadership and strategy at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.
Garn retired earlier this year after 18 years in the Senate.
Weaver started his career with Proctor & Gamble in 1953 and joined the Clorox Co. in 1970. He served as chairman and chief executive officer until his retirement in 1992.
