A Springville teenager died Friday, July 2, from injuries suffered in an auto collision at the intersection of U-214 and Center Street in Spanish Fork.

Shauna Lynn Sorrells, 17, sustained extensive injuries to her head and neck and died later that evening during surgery.Sorrells had turned west onto Center Street from northbound U-214 at 6:40 p.m. when her car was struck broadside by an eastbound auto driven by Brent McNicol, 25, Midvale.

Both Sorrells and her passenger, Jason Webster, 21, Spanish Fork, were transported to Mountain View Hospital in Payson. Webster suffered a concussion, was treated and released.

McNicol and his passengers, Kimberly and Taylor McNicol, were uninjured in the accident.

No citations were issued. The incident is still under investigation by the Utah Highway Patrol.
