Few know the name Elizabeth Short, but call her "the Black Dahlia" and people remember her.

The city of Medford, Mass., is posting a plaque in a town traffic circle in honor of the raven-haired actress, a Medford resident whose 1947 murder in West Hollywood, Calif., remains unsolved.Short, who had a few bit acting roles in the year after she moved to the West Coast, was found dead Jan. 15, 1947. The letters "BD" were carved into her thigh.

"It's a story people are still very much interested in," said Jay Griffin of the Medford Historical Society.
