Betty Jean Taylor Hadfield Marshall, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away August 16, 1993.
Betty had a sweet and giving soul, and she has gone to a better place than she has ever known. Her life here on this earth was a difficult trial, and she always did her best not to burden others with her difficulties. When she passed away, she was surrounded by those who loved her.Betty outlived two husbands, as well as her mother, Minnie Cutler Taylor, father, Sydney Thompson Taylor and her two sisters, Arlene and Carol.
She was married in 1940 to her first husband, Lynn Hadfield, and they had two children, a daughter, Mary Ann, Pleasant Gap, Penn.; and a son, Kent, Salt Lake City. Lynn was killed during World War II, March 1945. Betty then married Dayne Rogers Marshall in 1949 and they had three children, a daughter, Norma Jean (Jeannie), Salt Lake City; and two sons, Barry and Roger, Salt Lake City. Dayne died of a prolonged illness in March, 1966. Betty will be lovingly remembered by all five of her children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Betty was active in the planning and development of the University of Utah Medical Center, along with her second husband, and worked there for many years after his death. In her later years, Betty spent her time acting as a companion and caretaker for the elderly.
A private graveside ceremony will be held in her remembrance, date and time pending. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations to the University of Utah Department of Anatomy, in her name.
