Former Utah House member Ferdinand E. Peterson, 90, died Aug. 16, 1993, in Tacoma, Wash.

Mr. Peterson, a Republican, served eight years in the Utah House from 1962 to 1970. He led a number of income tax reform fights, including making Utah's state income tax forms reflect the federal forms, making filing state tax returns easier.Mr. Peterson chaired the House's Health and Welfare Committee when the state's first anti-pollution laws were passed in the 1960s.

For 25 years he owned and operated Peterson Appliance store in Salt Lake City. He sang in the LDS Church's Tabernacle Choir for 15 years and held a number of positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Isabelle Meikle Peterson. Funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Yale Ward Chapel, 1431 E. Gilmer Drive. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, today from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
