Martha E. Wagner-Hilbert died in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 20, 1993 of natural causes. We wish to thank all the nurses and staff of Hillside Villa Care Center who took good care of her.

She was born November 23, 1895 in Koenigswalde, Erzgebirge, Germany, to Gotthilf and Martha Hilbert, Weber. Married Paul Martin Wagner January 14, 1917 in Geyersdorf, Erzgebirge Germany. He died October 29, 1952 in Annaberg Germany. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Cardston Alberta LDS Temple.Martha helped her husband establish a textile business. She had a great talent for knitting and crocheting and made many people happy with her hand craft. Martha was the twelfth child and last survivor of 18 brothers and sisters. She became a member of the LDS Church in 1925 in Germany and was very active in Relief Society, visiting teaching, and temple work. Our mother escaped from East Germany in February 1953 and emigrated to Canada. From there she came to the USA in 1959.

Martha is survived by a son, Erhard Martin Wagner and wife Marianne Wagner; a daughter, Alice Mariechen Wagner, Flade and husband John L. Flade; eight living grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Paul Martin Wagner; a son Kurt Wagner, killed in World War II; and a grandson, Steven Martin Wagner.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 24, 1993 at 1 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call Tuesday, 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
