Lucille R. Hillyard, 86, of Logan died Friday, August 20, 1993 at Logan Regional Hospital.
She was born March 20, 1907 in Logan, a daughter of Morris and Marie Christensen Rosebaum. She married Lowell Hillyard on April 14, 1927 in the Logan LDS Temple. He died February 5, 1980. She spent her early life in Hyrum and following her marriage, she lived in Smithfield.She worked for Utah Mortgage and Loan as a secretary for many years and retired in 1969. She and her husband enjoyed 11 winters in Mesa, Arizona as 'snowbirds.' Following the death of her husband in 1980, she moved to Logan. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many various positions on both the ward and stake level. She particularly enjoyed working with the youth.
She is survived by her children, Morris R. Hillyard of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Joyce Madsen of Provo, Utah; Lyle W. Hillyard of Logan, Utah; and Leon S. Hillyard, LaJunta, Colorado. She is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bartley L. Hillyard.
She loved people and enjoyed life. Her positive attitude and friendly personality will be missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 23, 1993 at 10 a.m. in the Smithfield 4th Ward Chapel, 189 No. 100 East, with President George Jaggi conducting. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Matthew David Hillyard Scholarship Fund in the Special Education Department. at Utah State University.
