SHARE DILLARD SAYS SALES IN DECEMBER WERE UP 8%

Dillard Department Stores Inc. said sales for the month ended Jan. 1, increased to $915 million compared to 1992 December's sales of $850 million, an increase of 8 percent. Comparable stores increase for the month was 5 percent.

During the eleven months ended Jan. 1, sales were $4.83 billion, up 9 percent from $4.43 billion. Comparable stores increase for this period was 3 percent.The company currently operates 227 traditional department stores in twenty states, including Utah, featuring branded and private label goods in the upper middle price range and catering to a broad spectrum of the population.
