- Wrestling - Senior Scott Eastmond gave Brigham Young University its greatest hope of winning a championship match in the 1994 Sooner Open, but lost by a majority decision, 14-5, to Oklahoma's Shawn Harrison.
Eastmond, a former WAC champion, won three earlier matches by a combined score of 24-10.
BYU's Morgan Robertson and Richard Eggett lost in the consolation finals.
- Swimming - After being defeated by the University of Washington on Friday, Brigham Young University's men's swimming team posted wins against Puget Sound University, 121-73, and Whitworth College, 139-45, in Tacoma, Wash., on Saturday.
Glenn Abernethy and Mike Cutler led the Cougars by setting pool records in the 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke, respectively. Abernethy's time of 2:04.70 was three seconds faster than the previous pool record. Cutler's record time was 58.65.
- Women's basketball - Weber State's women's basketball team (1-10) opens its Big Sky season this Thursday and Saturday by hosting Idaho State and Boise State, respectively. Both games tip-off at 7 p.m. in the Dee Events Center.
