As many as 6,000 workers in southern China could lose their jobs if the United States doesn't reverse its decision to cut import quotas by 25-35 percent, a Chinese report said Wednesday. U.S. officials have accused China of illegally exporting textile products in excess of its trade quota, and last week they announced plans to slash the quota. Hong Kong manufacturers often smuggle Chinese-made textiles into the colony and export them to the United States with "Made in Hong Kong" labels.
