RACE. Gate Mania will be held Jan. 29 at Snowbird. This will be a race will be for alpine skiers and snowboarders. Gates will be set at 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the race hill by Mid Gad lift. Fee is $35 and includes an all-day lift pass, T-shirt and chance to ski the gates as many times as you want. 583-6281.
SKI SCHOOL. Salt Lake County Recreation will be registering for the Jr. High After School Program. Offered to Granite and Jordan junior high students. Ski one day a week, after school, at Brighton for four weeks. Fee is $65 and includes 2-hour lesson, 1-hour free ski and transportation. 468-2560.

WALLYBALL. Alta Canyon Sports Center is starting a drop-in league for all levels of play. This is on-going event. Informal leagues on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. and Friday at 9 p.m. Free for members, $4 for non-members. Structured league on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with round-robin and double elimination tournaments every 6 weeks. REI CLINICS - On Jan. 18, Pam Foyster will present a slide presentation and lecture on the prevention, basic diagnosis and treatment of frostbite, hypothermia - prevention, recognition and treatment . . . On Jan. 25, experts from the utah Avalanche Forecast Center will present an advanced avalanche clinic focusing on how to determine whether or not a slope is safe to ski or snowboard. DISABLE PROGRAMS. Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer recreation and leisure experiences to individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Adapted programs are designed to meet the physical and social needs of each participant.
