Three people were killed, including a pair of missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, when the car in which they were riding was struck by a train near here Thursday afternoon.

Killed were Elder Matthew Robert Brown, 19, Twin Falls, Idaho; Elder Christopher Robin Phillips, also 19, Dallas, Ore.; and Stephen Burnham, Hastings, Neb., driver of the car.Investigating officers say the collision between the Burnham car and the Burlington Northern train occurred about 4 p.m. near Harvard. No signal was at the crossing. Burnham was driving the missionaries to a teaching appointment when the accident occurred, officials of the Nebraska Omaha Mission said.
