Lupreal Carter Summerhays passed away January 11, 1994, at the age of 91.
Lupreal was born November 23, 1902 in Beaver, Utah, a daughter of John Albert and Jane Pearson Carter. She married John W. Summerhays August 21, 1920 in Beaver, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death May 16, 1984.Her full time job for over 70 years was that of wife, mother and grandmother. She was definitely grand, great and even great-great. If you were to look in the dictionary for a definition of mother, you would see her picture. She loved sewing, her rose garden, and visiting with her wonderful neighbors.
Survived by daughters: Mrs. Grant (Jean) Steele, of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Harry (Mary Louise) Walker, of Gainsville, Fla.; sons: Robert W. of Phoenix, Ariz.; Walter R. and Craig C., both of Salt Lake City; sisters: Druce, Virginia, Maxine; brother, Les; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughters, Lucille, and Mrs. F.A. (Kay) Mathie; son, John; brothers, Loy, Allen, Floyd; sisters, Margaret and Alberta.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 12 noon at the Monument Park 6th Ward, 1930 South 2100 East. A visitation will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
