KKAT Radio morning personality Kenneth Simmons pleaded guilty Wednesday to exposing himself to a 6-year-old girl at the South Towne Mall.

Simmons appeared in 3rd Circuit Court after meeting with prosecutors Wednesday morning. He stood at the podium before Commissioner Sandra Pueler and said, "Guilty, your honor," when asked to enter his plea to lewdness involving a child, a class A mis-de-meanor.In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutor Rod Ybarra said he likely will recommend that Simmons be sentenced to 36

months on probation, which will include therapy. If Simmons completes probation suc-cess-fully, Ybarra said, he would not oppose a motion to reduce the charge to a class B misdemeanor.

"Basically, he pleaded guilty as charged," Ybarra said after the hearing.

Simmons, a member of Utah's most-listened-to morning radio team, was charged with exposing his genitals to a 6-year-old girl in the toy department at ZCMI in the South Towne Mall, 10450 S. State, on Dec. 27. ZCMI employees witnessed the incident on security cameras and detained Simmons until Sandy police arrived.

Simmons told officers he was only "rearranging" himself and did not know he had exposed himself. He told the Deseret News he was just tucking in his shirt.

But investigators who viewed the videotape balked at his version. "It was obvious to me that Kenneth was not just rearranging himself. He clearly exposed himself twice in the presence of the juvenile victim," Officer J. DuVal wrote in a police report.

Both Simmons and his attorney, Kenneth Goodwill, declined to comment Wednesday.

After Simmons was arrested, he requested a leave of absence from KKAT. General Manager Dana Horton said Wednesday he was unaware that Simmons had pleaded guilty and said his status with KKAT has not been determined.
