Ross Duane Egbert, age 87, died January 19, 1994 at home of cancer.
He was born October 24, 1906 in West Jordan, Utah, to John Alexander Egbert and Araminta Bateman. He married Crilla Myers, of Riverton, Utah on June 9, 1930 in the Salt Lake Temple.He was very ambitious and loved to work. In his youth he worked for farms and the Utah Idaho Sugar Company in West Jordan. Later he was employed by the Utah Poultry Association for 33 years and the Salt Lake County for 9 years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He played baseball and basketball and was a referee and coach for Senior Scouts and M-Men basketball. He also served as a Stake Sports director. Other positions in the LDS Church were a counselor in the bishopric, president of the YMMIA and counselor in the Sunday School superintendency.
Survivors include his wife, Crilla; two sons, Bishop Jack M. Egbert and wife, Madalin, West Jordan; and Bishop Gary R. Egbert and wife, Janice, Lewiston, Utah; daughter, Margie E. Edwards and husband, Daniel, Murray, Utah; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Egbert Krogh, Taylorsville, Utah.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Broomhead Mortuary in Riverton, Utah, 12600 South 2200 West. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Brigham Creek 2nd Ward, 1945 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah were friends may call Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Salt Lake Community Nursing Hospice.
