Provo
In its Jan. 25 meeting, the City Council:
- Approved trading 13.49 acres at 4800 N. Carterville Road for $100,000 and up to 13 acres of street areas along the Provo River south of 4800 North to develop Georgetown Park.
- Approved a resolution to join the Utah Cable Television Cooperative, an organization that will provide legal assistance to regulate cable TV.
- Tabled a proposal to extend the pay scale for chief administrative officer, city attorney, energy director and public works director to allow them to earn raises. All four have reached the top of the current scale.
- Tabled a resolution to appropriate $80,000 for police compensatory time; $80,000 to complete Fort Utah Park and $10,000 to start plans for Georgetown Park.
- Reappointed Mark Robie to the Media Review Commission.
- Approved an ordinance setting standards for private parks. It states that the city will not accept the donation of private parks. The law requires park owners to maintain grounds and facilities to keep them from falling into disrepair.
