The City Council has given conceptual approval to add six additional reserve police officers to Clinton's force.

City Manager Patrick Sorenson said the officers would be volunteers who would be added during the near future."That will be an advantage to taxpayers," Sorenson said, indicating the cost to the city will be uniforms and other equipment but not vehicles.

He also said all of the officers would be certified. Although they would not create additional patrols in the city, they would add to the current Clinton force of seven full-time and two reserve officers.
